Public Access defibrillators now available in Alvah and Forglen

Alvah and Forglen Community Council have installed public access defibrillators at Alvah Parish Hall and at Forglen Hall.

Both units are mounted externally and are for public use in cardiac arrest emergencies.

The units themselves have full instructions for use on them and don’t need anyone to have prior knowledge or training before using them.

The Community Council is extremely grateful for the early technical and procurement advice from Heartstart Banff and also for the financial support through Muirden Energy.

Due to the rural nature of the area and the distances ambulances need to travel the Community Council identified a pressing need to help improve the chances of people in the area to survive a Sudden Cardiac Arrest event.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest happens around 140,000 times a year in the UK, making it one of the UK’s largest killers

A detailed guide to using public access defibrillators is available from the Resuscitation Council (UK) https://www.resus.org.uk/EasySiteWeb/GatewayLink.aspx?alId=869
