Public unveiling of restored Forglen Hall window

There will be a public unveiling of the restored stained glass window at Forglen Hall on Saturday 12 October. It will be unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire, Andrew Simpson.

The window depicts Jacob’s Dream from the Book of Genesis. It was designed and manufactured by Clayton and Bell, world famous manufacturers of religious stained glass windows.

It was originally installed in Ardmiddle House, Ardmiddle in 1868 for the Milne family. In 1924 Robert Collier Caw, the then owner of Ardmiddle House donated the window to Forglen Hall which was being built at the time.

Over the years the window suffered significant damage. An initiative by Alvah and Forglen Community Council led to its refurbishment in 2019 by Linda Cannon AMGP ACR, stained glass artist and conservator, with funding generously provided by Historic Environment Scotland and Strath of Brydock Windfarm.

The unveiling ceremony will commence 12:00 hours for 13:00 hours. There will be nibbles and drinks. All welcome
