The Queen’s Green Canopy is a national initiative to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, and to promote the importance of trees to the environment.
Alvah and Forglen Community Council are pleased to support the initiative and have been allocated 2.8 acres of land by the Mountblairy Estate to establish a wild wood which will enhance the environment and the habitat of local wildlife.
Thanks to an initial quantity of trees supplied by the Woodlands Trust and a generous donation from Brydock Windfarm for additional trees, AFCC intends to plant almost 2000 trees by the end of Spring.
AFCC are aware that many residents in the area and beyond would welcome the opportunity to plant a tree to commemorate the Jubilee. To that end AFCC will hold a TREE PLANTING WEEKEND on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March 2022 from 10am to 4pm at Mountblairy Lake on the Mountblairy Estate, near Turriff.
Members of the local community of all ages are invited to come along with a spade and plant a tree.
