Aberdeenshire Council Fees and Charges survey

In line with Aberdeenshire Council’s Corporate Charging Policy and Charging Framework, their Environment and Infrastructure Services directorate is undertaking a review of its fees and charges. The purpose of the review is to ensure that:

  • Charges are levied on a clear and consistent basis across council services;
  • The affordability of charges and possible concessions are considered;
  • Recovery of charges is carried out efficiently and effectively; and
  • Charges are imposed and implemented in line with council priorities and policies

Last month, the Infrastructure Services Committee acknowledged the directorate’s intention to undertake the review and endorsed a public consultation on discretionary charges.

The consultation is limited to only those fees and charges which the directorate has discretion to set. Some of the fees and charges levied by E&IS – inc. charges for planning applications and building warrants – are set externally by the Scottish Government and the council has no discretion to change them.

Aberdeenshire Council are encouraging residents and businesses to participate in an online survey which, when completed, will be reported back to ISC and amended charges introduced for the 2023/2024 financial year.

You can access the survey until Sunday, November 6 here: https://engage.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/eis-fees-and-charges-review
